History of the CHF Endowment |
In late 2001, the CHF separately launched its first multi-year endowment campaign, “Thinking Ahead: The Campaign for the Future of the Chicago Humanities Festival” with the objective of providing the institution with the protection of a solid financial base.
After less than three years of this effort, the organization has already received pledges of nearly $3.5 million, just under one-third of its campaign goal, and will immediately begin to use a National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant to seek from foundations, corporations, and individuals further gifts to the campaign. For the CHF to receive the full $400,000 NEH grant award, the organization must match the offered federal funds on a 3-1 basis, that is, raise $1.2 million in total.
