Mehmet, a young man from western Turkey, and Berzan, a Kurdish rebel living underground, develop an unlikely friendship while in Istanbul. When Mehmet is mistaken for a Kurd and arrested, he begins to understand his new friend’s struggles. After a tragedy, Mehmet journeys to Berzan’s homeland. Directed by Yesim Ustaoglu, Turkey/Netherlands/Germany, 1999, 35mm, 104 mins. In Turkish, Kurdish and Dutch with English subtitles.
