CHF Annual Meeting
06/20/2007 - 5:30 Reception, 7:00 Meeting, 8:00 Concert

On Wednesday, June 20th – the final day of Spring 2007 – the Chicago Humanities Festival will observe the completion of another successful fiscal year with a memorable evening of fellowship and melodic merriment. Please join us for the CHF Annual Meeting and Celebration as we anticipate our fall programming theme “The Climate of Concern” with the appropriate musical question: “Too Darn Hot?”

Yes, the planet may be warming, but we’ll be “keeping it cool” at Northwestern University School of Law’s Thorne Auditorium where, beginning at 5:30, you’ll enjoy cold drinks and delicious hors d’ouevres with good friends. After a brief institutional presentation, which will include a sneak preview of the Fall Festival programming, you’ll be serenaded by three of Chicago’s coolest and most talented cabaret performers– Beckie Menzie, Spider Saloff, and Tom Michael – as they “forecast” some breezy, climate-concerned classics from the Festival’s planned closing concert in November. Among the, er, weathered standards old and new that you’ll hear are “Blue Skies,” “Stormy Weather,” “Heat Wave,” “I’ll Follow the Sun,” and, of course, Cole Porter’s “Too Darn Hot.” The evening will end at approximately

9:00 p.m. Don’t miss the fun! Reservations for the drinks/hors d’ouevres, meeting, and performance are $50 (donation).
