Don’t miss the premiere of Albany Park Theater Project’s (APTP) third commissioned piece by the CHF. God’s Work is a play about one girl, her eleven brothers and sisters, her four parents, and her two different lives. A play about reciting from the bible and rocking in the basement, coming forth and confessing sins and killing bees and keeping the list, the sound of peeling potatoes and the weight of perpetual pregnancy, the taste of forbidden cupcakes and the sparkle of magical lint, walking first steps and washing away filth. A play about the families we construct in place of the ones we’re born into. A play about memory. A play about how our capacity for imagination and resilience is truly evidence of God’s Work.
For this production, the CHF is excited to invite you to APTP’s home theatre, located in the Eugene Field Cultural Center at 5100 North Ridgeway, Chicago. God's Work opens March 10 and runs through April23, 2006. Attend the Sunday matinee for $10 (general admission), and free for students. This special price is made possible by the Chicago Humanities Festival.
