MARTA ELENA SAVIGLIANO: From Wallflowers to Femmes Fatales
(Gambling Femininity in Tango)
The UCLA professor in World Arts & Cultures looks at why women in contemporary Buenos Aires attend the tango (macho) dance scene. Chicago-area dancers demonstrate. Savigliano is the author of Tango and the Political Economy of Passion and the librettist for Angora Matta, a tango-opera.

Presented in partnership with the Chicago Seminar on Dance and Performance and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
