Andrea Levy-Small Island
04/05/2005

Andrea Levy-Small Island The 2005 Chicago Humanities Festival presents a reading and discussion with British author Andrea Levy, whose newest novel, Small Island, won two major literary awards in Britain last year, the Orange Prize and the Whitbread Book of the Year. Set in post-war England, Small Island tells the story of a Jamaican couple’s complex and often remarkable relationship with the white British family in whose London home they lodge. The Guardian called Small Island “honest, skillful, thoughtful, and important."

Levy presents her new novel on Tuesday, April 5th, from 6:00-7:00pm at the Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton Street. Levy is interviewed on stage by fellow author and Chicago Tribune columnist Dawn Turner Trice. Book sales and a signing by the author immediately follow the program. Admission is FREE.
