Composer Sheng and playwright Hwang met at the Festival years ago, where they formed a collaboration that would lead to The Silver River, a remarkable work that brings together Western and Chinese musical and theatrical traditions. Their discussion includes traditional Chinese instrumental performance and excerpt screenings from the opera.
