Dondup dreams of America while stuck in an isolated Bhutan village. At the first chance, he heads for town and an awaiting visa. Missing the bus, he hitchhikes with an elderly apple seller, a sage monk, and an old man and his daughter. On the way, the mischievous monk tells Dondup of another young man who sought a land far away: a tale of lust, jealousy, and murder.
Directed by Khyentse Norbu, Australia/Bhutan, 2003, 35mm, 108 mins. In Dzongkha with English subtitles.
