Festival Program
Drawing partly on the recently published diary of Catherine Eddy, a daughter of the Prairie Avenue elite, this panel discusses the world of Prairie Avenue and Chicago’s upper class at the turn of the century. In 1893, British writer William T. Stead noted that Chicago’s Prairie Avenue had "as many millions of dollars to the square inch . . . as are to be found in any equal area on the world’s surface." With Janice L. Reiff, Rick Kogan, and Albert Beveridge III, moderated by Ann Durkin Keating.
Generously sponsored in part by the Newberry Library.
